Paris, France · 11 March 2019: Congratulations to Participants of the 11th International Culinary Competition of Southern Europe in Thessaloniki, Greece

After four days of cooking, tasting and judging, the winners of the Best Chef of the Year, Student of the Year, Team of the Year and Best School of the Year were announced on Monday, in a festive atmosphere, at the closing ceremony of the 11th International Culinary Competition of Southern Europe.

The Competition took place within the 28th International Exhibition for Food, Beverages, Machinery Equipment and Packaging, Detrop, from March 1 to March 4, 2019, at Pavillion 16 of Thessaloniki International Exhibition and Conrgress Centre, HELEXPO.

This year there were 540 participations of distinguished Chefs and students (a record number for the history of the Competition) from 22 countries, that competed in 30 categories and were evaluated by 6 Greek and 17 international Judges.

The Best School of the Year Trophy was awarded to INTERCOLLEGE CULINARY ARTS from Cyprus, the Best Chef of the Year Trophy to Mr. Kaloyan Kalev from Bulgaria, the Best Student Chef of the Year Trophy to Alexis Callas from Cyprus, the Student Pastry Chef of the Year Trophy to Michalis Sarafidis from Greece and the Team Grand Prix to the team from Iceland.

“With participations from Serbia, Taiwan, Iceland, Cyprus, Turkey, Ukraine and many other countries, we are glad to see the Competition’s development through the years and its international recognition. Some of the best Chefs from around the world are gathered in order to share experience and knowledge”, mentioned the president of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Gkotsis.

The Organizer of the Competition, The Chefs Association of Northern Greece, would like to congratulate the participants that managed to impress the demanding Judging Committee with their skills and creativity, but also for their high standards and excellent attitude during the competition.

The Association would also like to thank the distinguished Chefs of the Judging Committee,the co-organizer TIF HELEXPO, our supporters, the culinary schools that joined us, as well as the members of the Chefs Association of Northern Greece for their valuable help and support.

Paris, France· 22 February 2019: Results from the Global Chefs Challenge Europe Regional Semi-Finals

Europe Regional Semi-Finals for the Global Chefs Challenge were held in Rimini, Italy, 16-19 February 2019. Selected through champion performance at national competitions throughout Europe, participating teams representing Europe South, Central, and North competed to show their mastery in the culinary arts through three competition categories: Global Chefs Challenge, Global Pastry Chefs Challenge, and Global Young Chefs Challenge – Hans Bueschkens Trophy.

Paris, France · 12 February 2019: Global Chef Challenge Regional Semi-Finals Begin in Rimini, Italy

Semi-Finals for the Global Chef Challenge begin this week in Rimini, Italy, 16-19 February 2019. Selected through top performance at national competitions throughout Europe, participating teams represent Europe North, Central, and South. Organized by Federazione Italiana Cuochi – FIC, the competition is in conjunction with Campionati della Cucina Italiana 2019.

Over the course of four days, competitors meet to show their mastery in the culinary arts through three competition categories: Global Chefs Challenge, Global Pastry Chefs Challenge, and Global Young Chefs Challenge – Hans Bueschkens Trophy. Competitors will be vying for a coveted opportunity to compete at the Global Chef Challenge Finals during the 2020 Worldchefs Congress in St. Petersburg, Russia, July 28-31, 2020.

Winning teams advance to the Finals to compete head to head against the Culinary World Cup qualifying teams.

14 July 2018 – After two years of exciting national and
Continental selections, the finals of the Global Young Chefs Challenge, Global
Chefs Challenge and the Global Pastry Chefs Challenge took place at the
Worldchefs Congress & Expo from

12 – 14 July at the Kuala Lumpur
Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.




The winners who emerged from the days of intense competition are:
Jimmi Eriksson from Sweden (Global
Chefs Challenge),
Niall Larjala from
Finland, (Global Young Chefs Challenge),and
Lim Wei Hrn from Singapore (Global Pastry Chefs Challenge).

 

The format

 

The Global
Chefs Challenge
featured 18 countries, where competitors prepared a
four-course menu, each with 12 portions over two sessions.  Invited guests were invited to taste the
dishes at the competition arena, which was transformed into a pop-up
restaurant.

 

At the Global Young Chefs Challenge, ten teams from all over the world each prepared a 3-course menu, each
with 4 servings.

 

At the Global Pastry Chefs
Challenge,
10 top patissiers
created a chocolate centerpiece with a minimum height of 60cm
6 portions of plated desserts based on a
summer theme and a gateau of their choice.

 

Says chief judge, Gert Klotze, “The
competitors were put through a very stringent test. They had to be creative and
use the stipulated range of top quality ingredients provided by our
sponsors.  It was a good test of the
culinary techniques, discipline and also creativity. The standards were all
very high, and for each Global Chefs Challenge, we can see competitors
continually pushing themselves and exploring new boundaries.”



Thomas Gugler, President of Worldchefs adds, “The Global Chefs Challenges have
always been an integral part of the Congress. It is a platform Worldchefs have
developed to continually encourage and educate chefs to achieve perfection on
the plate. The response to the competition and the standards exhibited has
really been outstanding.”

Worldchefs Endorsed East European Culinary Cup – a Great Cultural Meeting in the Culinary World

Brasov (Romania), May 2018:

East European Culinary Cup, organized by ACEEA –
Euro-East Alternative Cultural
Association and Euro-Toques
Romania, took place in Brasov, Romania, 26-27th of May 2018.

It was a large cultural meeting, uniting professional people from different countries: Romania,
Macedonia, Cyprus, Serbia, Belarus,Slovakia, Ukraine,Mongolia, South Korea,
Philippines, Iceland, Denmark, Qatar, UAE, Israel, Palestine, India, United
States of America, Turkey,Croatia, Rusia, Slovenia,Tunisia.

The competition featured several classes (cooking, pastry and art classes)
and it was judged by a
prestigious jury presided by
Mr. Iztok Legat, with the vice-presidency of Mrs Maria Shramko.

In this high professional spirit the event
featured also live cooking shows by ACEEA members and traditional cooking
session, but also discussions in Gastrosophia, a communication session on
several
culinary topics. On the
scene of Gastrosophia important speakers like Adrijana Alacki,
Ray McCue, Majeed
al Sabagh, Anil Grover, Rafik Tlati
and dr. Iulia Dragu?, president of ACEEA discussed about the commonalities
and differences among world’s cuisines, about gourmet cuisine, about waste
management and food ecology. Congratulations to the winners of the competition

Worldchefs is happy to showcase the 4th year of the competition of chefs and pastry chefs – Banska Bystrica CUP 2018

On 13. – 14. of April 2018 the Slovak Chefs Association organized another
– already 4th year of the competition “Banska Bystrica GASTRO CUP
2018”. The competition took place in the Hotel LUX*** Banská Bystrica. The competition was destined for the chefs and pastry chefs  of both junior and senior classes. However,
this year it was extended by a very interesting contest “The Restaurant of the
Year 2018 Banská Bystrica”.
 
30 contestants,
including 19 juniors participated in this very successful event.

During the
competition, the president of SCA and at the same time the Ambassador of Worldchefs
– WCWB in Slovak Republic, Mr. Vojto Artz prepared a very interesting program
for children. In his company and in the company of professional chefs they had
the opportunity to prepare some simpler gastronomy specialities, dress up cakes,
taste the popular popcorn and ask professional chefs questions. The animators
painted children’s faces and shaped the balloons into the form of various
animals. These activities won great success among and interest of the children.
