Paris, France · 17 January 2020 · Friedr. Dick AJAX Chef’s Knife Wins “KitchenInnovation of the Year® 2020” Consumer Award
*Original press release available for download below.
An impressive blade and tremendous sharpness for real
daredevils! The “AJAX” chef’s knife from the 1905 series
is honoured with the “KitchenInnovation of the Year® 2020” consumer award as
well as the “Golden Award”.
Friedr. Dick has created an impressive chef’s knife with the
AJAX chef’s knife from the forged 1905 design series that not only makes men’s
hearts beat faster. The AJAX chef’s knife was able to inspire both the panel of
experts and the consumers with an above-average overall performance in the
unique evaluation procedure for the “Kitchen Innovation” award. Quality,
functionality and material quality coupled with an attractive design and
product features that consumers expect – the AJAX was able to impress with
these qualities. The chef’s knife also received a very special and coveted
award: the “Golden Award – Best of the Best“ for the most popular product with
the highest overall rating in the respective category.
The AJAX chef’s knife will give you an appetite for
cooking and grilling like no other knife. The impressive 22 cm long blade
glides through meat like a knife through butter and continues even when it
encounters small bones. Whether meat, poultry, fruit or vegetables – the AJAX
is a real all-rounder. The knife’s curved cutting edge make rocking cuts easy,
enabling raw fish and meat but also herbs to be cut effortlessly. The knife can
be hung up and therefore safely stowed away thanks to the practical hole in the
knife blade.
This special Ajax knife owes its name to the Greek
hero of the Trojan War. When developing this unique blade, it was modelled on
an over 100 year old cleaver that Friedr. Dick had in its product range for
butchers and meat traders at that time. This traditional shape together with
the modern design and top quality will win you over: the special weight,
superior sharpness and high-quality craftsmanship will impress as soon as you
start working with the knife.
The 1905 series combines a historic design with
state-of-the-art production technology and continues to captivate with its
exceptional appearance. As the name suggests, this special knife series dates
back to the year 1905. Friedr. Dick developed a timelessly modern chef’s knife
series with solid collars back then, replacing the traditional riveted handle
that had been previously used up until that point.
The new AJAX chef’s knife will be available from
specialist retailers.
Friedr. Dick is the only manufacturer worldwide who
offers a complete range of knives, sharpening steels, ancillary items for chefs
and butchers as well as grinding machines, sharpening machines and knife
cleaning devices. The long-standing tradition and experience of manufacturing
products for chefs and butchers allow a continuous development of innovative
products. Input from customers, especially end-users and our own ideas are
converted into high-quality products.

Paris, France · 13 December 2019 · The Results Are In! Check Out the Final Counts for International Chefs Day 2019
Greetings Chefs and Colleagues!
Children around the world had a chance to spend time with Worldchefs members, like yourself, this year on and around October 20th to celebrate International Chefs Day 2019. With the theme “How Healthy Food Works,” provided by our sponsor Nestlé Professional, all were able to print materials from the toolkit including recipes, badges, certificates, games, and even placemats to make your event complete and with ease.
Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher, founder of International Chefs Day in 2004, would be so proud of this year’s efforts as you continued his vision of celebrating our noble profession and passing on our knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation with a sense of pride and commitment to the future.
I am also very proud of the International Chefs Day Committee who volunteered their time this year to get the word out and answer any questions you had about the 2019 campaign. Everyone played a big role in making this a great year.
Thank you to my Team!!!
Adelina Sisti-DeBlasis, Canada
Joanna Ochniak, Poland
Mathew Shropshall, England
Ann Brown, Scotland
Kim-Håvard Larsen, Norway
Venessa Barnes, Australia
David Keir, South Africa
Ines Maria D’Amico, Ecuador
Tony Chang, Taiwan
And now what you have all been waiting for… Just look at our final counts for 2019!
Children Reached: 72,957 Chef Participation: 1,849
Congratulations! This is a great stride and everyone should be proud of what you have accomplished, and that is, sharing with children healthy eating habits and of course, our profession. If you missed sharing with children this October, perhaps you can participate in 2020 by joining more chefs around the world for next year’s International Chefs Day campaign.
I leave you with this final thought, by Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher:
“Progress is incremental so concentrate on what you can do today that you couldn’t do yesterday.”

Paris, France · 29 November 2019 · Worldchefs announces historical partnership with Birra Morena
HISTORICAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN BIRRA MORENA AND THE WORLD ASSOCIATION OF CHEFS SOCIETIES
Worldchefs will bring an Italian beer to the table for the first time
The World Association of Chefs Societies has chosen Birra Morena as a travel companion, an exclusive collaboration with the aim of promoting, in the next few years, the association of food with beer worldwide.
Worldchefs is a worldwide network of chef associations, founded in Paris in October 1928, which currently includes around 110 associations, representing many nations, and millions of chefs.
Birra Morena, already an exclusive partner of the Italian National Cooks, is an Italian brewery that has invested time and resources in high quality projects. Over the past 3 years it has won over 50 medals internationally, including 2 World titles at the World Beer Awards in London: its Celtica Sweet Stout won the title of best beer in the world in its category, a title already won in 2017.
An Italian beer, therefore, is the official beer of Worldchefs and of all the activities that will be promoted around the world where the correct combination of food and beer will be the protagonist.
Fabrizio Tarricone of Birra Morena explains: “We are proud that, after a long evaluation, they chose our beers and our company. It is fantastic to think that with this collaboration we will bring our made in Italy to the most prestigious restaurant in over 110 different countries, with millions of chefs who will combine it with a cuisine of different styles and traditions.”
“Worldchefs’ partnership with Birra Morena presents an exciting opportunity to learn about the world of beer and discover how it can be appropriately paired with different cuisines,” said Ragnar Fridriksson, Managing Director of Worldchefs. “We are delighted to bring them on board as a Corporate Partner.”
Further information on the company can also be found on the site www.birramorena.com and www.worldchefs.org

Melbourne, Australia · 20 November 2019 · Dilmah Wins Product of the Year
Founder of Dilmah – Merrill J. Fernando – accepted the prestigious consumer award for Product of the Year for the Dilmah Natural Infusions last night. The winning range includes three natural wellness inspired infusions.
Product of the Year accepts entries every year from products around the world that demonstrate innovation and were launched within the previous year (survey of 10,000 people by Nielsen). The Product of the Year is the world’s largest consumer-voted award for product innovation. The Dilmah Infusions range has been voted number one in the tea category this year and will hold this seal for the next 12 months.
Each infusion is caffeine-free and made from a combination of Sri Lankan spices and herbs that contain powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits – promoting overall wellness and healing with every sip.
“I named Dilmah after my sons Dilhan and Malik, and it is just as precious to me. I will never compromise on the great taste, natural goodness and ethical purpose which form the heart of Dilmah. I first brought Dilmah to Australia in the 1980s as a tea grower with a dream of launching my own brand. Everyone told me it was impossible, but Australian tea drinkers appreciate the taste and goodness in my tea and gave me the break I needed. I am humbled that 32 years later Australian consumers have once again recognised my commitment to quality, authenticity and a genuine purpose” says Mr. Fernando.
The Dilmah Infusions are inspired by the natural goodness that is the foundation of the Sri Lankan Ayurveda and ingredients produced by local artisans. In addition to its handpicked teas, Dilmah produces Ceylon Cinnamon, known for its health benefits whilst turmeric, clove, moringa, cardamom and other ingredients are produced by artisan farmers. The combination of great taste and natural goodness come from the authentic, handpicked herbs, roots and spices used in the Infusions.
Since launching, Dilmah has expanded to over 100 countries, yet maintaining its founding commitment to quality and integrity. A minimum 15% of the profits from the sale of Dilmah are used by Merrill J. Fernando’s MJF Charitable Foundation to serve humanity in projects that support marginalised women and differently abled youth whilst promoting conservation and sustainable agriculture.
Dilmah’s Infusions teas can be purchased from Coles and Metcash stores in Australia or online at shop.dilmahtea.com.au
