Indonesia Celebrates International Chefs Day 2014

Each year, on the 20th of October, members of the World Association of Chefs Societies (Worldchefs) celebrate International Chefs Day. On this day, chefs around the world celebrate their profession and take the opportunity to not only promote the organization (Worldchefs) but also goodwill and friendship amongst each other, as well as taking the time to help people who are less fortunate. It is also a day, on which to assist the younger chefs, but most importantly, the day when we recognize the very important role that chefs play in our societies, for we have a great responsibility not only to feed, but also to give nourishment.

This year, Association of Culinary Professionals (ACP) Indonesia in colaboration with Yayasan Emmanue held a Food Charity & Cooking Demo at Kampung Garungsang Pasir, Madang, Sentul.

ACP invited fellow members and sponsors to participate in the event.

The events has finished succesfully, we served over than 300 women and children in Sentul.

We would also like to thank our sponsors for their generous supports towards the event; PT. Artha Karya Utama, Classic Fine Foods, Inaco, JAPFA Food (So Good, Santori, PT. Suri Tani Pemuka, PT. Intan Kenkomayo Indonesia), Kalbe Nutritionals, PT. Fitrafoof International, Meat & Livestock Australia, PT. Optima Kreasi Utama, Prima Jaya, PT. Sukanda Djaya, PT. Sewu Segar Nusantara (Sunpride), PT. Amanah Prima Indonesia dan Unilever Food Solutions.

As Gissur Gudmundsson, President of the World Association of Chefs Societies says: “Example of what you can do is go to schools and pass on your knowledge, work with humanitarian aids on a local level, surprise kids in kindergartens, visit hospitals, orphanages… and bring back smiles to less fortunate ones. Once you hang up your Chefs jacket think about your actions, have they made a difference in the end of the day, and ultimately share your story with us”

Worldchefs Without Borders Celebrates International Chefs Day 2014

In collaboration with Food Bank Worldchefs Without Borders has organised some amazing things for International Chefs Day 2014:

Food Bank is a non-profit organisation & is a place where companies or people can come to deposit / donate their unused or unwanted foods which will then be collected and allocated to the Needy via various channels through VWOS, Charities, Soup Kitchens etc…
As price of foods continue to increase, many middle to low income families have problems putting food on the table as salaries aren't increasing as quickly. Moreover, based on our observation, we do know that there are pockets of unused food within the food industry that can most certainly be put to better use.
