Limited special edition forged chef's knife Premier Plus “GO FOR GOLD”

Germany · 20 January 2020 · Limited special edition
forged chef’s knife
Premier
Plus “GO FOR GOLD”

The
IKA/Culinary Olympics is the oldest, largest and most diverse international
culinary arts competition in the world. Professional teams of chefs passionately
compose the perfect interplay of ingredients, preparation and presentation. For
100 years, new culinary trends have been emerging here in fair competition. The
competition is taking place in Stuttgart for the first time, parallel to the
INTERGASTRA 2020.

The motto of
the Olympic Games is “citius, altius, fortius” – Latin for faster, stronger,
further. The Olympic concept of “being there is everything” is also a guiding
principle for the festival as an event. In a quote about the Olympic Games,
Bishop Ethelbert Talbot said:

“The important
thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part, for the essential
thing in life is not conquering but fighting well.”

On the
occasion of the Culinary Olympics, Friedr. Dick presents a limited special
edition of its forged chef’s knife with a blade length of 21 cm from the
Premier Plus series. The knives are coated with a special ceramic enforced
hybrid coating. The antibacterial non-stick coating prevents cuttings from
sticking and allows easy cleaning. In addition, ceramic particles enable the
best sliding properties with reduced effort and higher wear resistance.

Forged from a
single piece of steel, perfectly balanced with a high-quality coating on the
blade and a unique marking – the perfect tool: not just for participating in
the IKA/Culinary Olympics.

The limited
special edition can be acquired starting mid February 2020 at the IKA/Culinary
Olympics.

Friedr. Dick
is the only manufacturer worldwide who offers a complete range of knives, sharpening
steels, ancillary items for chefs and butchers as well as grinding machines,
sharpening machines and knife cleaning devices. The long-standing tradition and
experience of manufacturing products for chefs and butchers allow a continuous
development of innovative products. Input from customers, especially end-users
and our own ideas are converted into high-quality products.

Friedr. Dick AJAX Chef's Knife Wins “KitchenInnovation of the Year® 2020” Consumer Award

Paris, France · 17 January 2020 ·  Friedr. Dick AJAX Chef’s Knife Wins “KitchenInnovation of the Year® 2020” Consumer Award

*Original press release available for download below.

An impressive blade and tremendous sharpness for real
daredevils!
The “AJAX” chef’s knife from the 1905 series
is honoured with the “KitchenInnovation of the Year® 2020” consumer award as
well as the “Golden Award”.

Friedr. Dick has created an impressive chef’s knife with the
AJAX chef’s knife from the forged 1905 design series that not only makes men’s
hearts beat faster. The AJAX chef’s knife was able to inspire both the panel of
experts and the consumers with an above-average overall performance in the
unique evaluation procedure for the “Kitchen Innovation” award. Quality,
functionality and material quality coupled with an attractive design and
product features that consumers expect – the AJAX was able to impress with
these qualities. The chef’s knife also received a very special and coveted
award: the “Golden Award – Best of the Best“ for the most popular product with
the highest overall rating in the respective category.

The AJAX chef’s knife will give you an appetite for
cooking and grilling like no other knife. The impressive 22 cm long blade
glides through meat like a knife through butter and continues even when it
encounters small bones. Whether meat, poultry, fruit or vegetables – the AJAX
is a real all-rounder. The knife’s curved cutting edge make rocking cuts easy,
enabling raw fish and meat but also herbs to be cut effortlessly. The knife can
be hung up and therefore safely stowed away thanks to the practical hole in the
knife blade.

This special Ajax knife owes its name to the Greek
hero of the Trojan War. When developing this unique blade, it was modelled on
an over 100 year old cleaver that Friedr. Dick had in its product range for
butchers and meat traders at that time. This traditional shape together with
the modern design and top quality will win you over: the special weight,
superior sharpness and high-quality craftsmanship will impress as soon as you
start working with the knife.

The 1905 series combines a historic design with
state-of-the-art production technology and continues to captivate with its
exceptional appearance. As the name suggests, this special knife series dates
back to the year 1905. Friedr. Dick developed a timelessly modern chef’s knife
series with solid collars back then, replacing the traditional riveted handle
that had been previously used up until that point.

The new AJAX chef’s knife will be available from
specialist retailers.

Friedr. Dick is the only manufacturer worldwide who
offers a complete range of knives, sharpening steels, ancillary items for chefs
and butchers as well as grinding machines, sharpening machines and knife
cleaning devices. The long-standing tradition and experience of manufacturing
products for chefs and butchers allow a continuous development of innovative
products. Input from customers, especially end-users and our own ideas are
converted into high-quality products.

Feed the Planet: 2019 Achievements

Paris, France · 7 January 2020 · Feed the Planet 2019 Achievements

Greetings Chefs!

Over the course of 2019, the Feed the Planet Committee and its partner organizations, Electrolux and AIESEC, have been hard at work addressing issues of global sustainability. I am very proud of the work that we have collectively achieved. There are so many stories of Worldchefs members who have stepped up and consciously made a decision to get involved and make a difference. These efforts are so encouraging!

So by the numbers, this represents some of the achievements of 2019:

  • We taught over 30,249 children about sustainable eating through the Food Heroes Challenge.
  • We now have 7 Like A Chef teaching centers open in 6 countries where we teach free 2-month culinary modules to help the world’s disenfranchised find employment in the foodservice sector.
  • Over 800 culinary students completed Worldchefs Sustainability Education for Culinary Professionals curriculum.
  • As members of Worldchefs, you can share in celebrating these results. It is only through the sum of our individual activities that we can make a difference. And remember, every effort, no matter how small or big, to make our world and our profession more sustainable is a step in the right direction.

As 2020 begins to unfold before us, please reach out to the Feed the Planet committee if you want to get more involved. We welcome all efforts!!

Thank you,

Chef Christopher Koetke

Chairman, Worldchefs Feed the Planet Committee

Seen as a gateway for regional investors seeking new business opportunities in the region, Saudi HORECA proved its prowess once again by gathering almost 300 companies under one roof to showcase the latest products and services to an audience of over 25,000 trade visitors. The Results Are In! Check Out the Final Counts for International Chefs Day 2019

Paris, France · 13 December 2019 · The Results Are In! Check Out the Final Counts for International Chefs Day 2019

Greetings Chefs and Colleagues!

Children around the world had a chance to spend time with Worldchefs members, like yourself, this year on and around October 20th to celebrate International Chefs Day 2019.  With the theme “How Healthy Food Works,” provided by our sponsor Nestlé Professional, all were able to print materials from the toolkit including recipes, badges, certificates, games, and even placemats to make your event complete and with ease.

Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher, founder of International Chefs Day in 2004, would be so proud of this year’s efforts as you continued his vision of celebrating our noble profession and passing on our knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation with a sense of pride and commitment to the future.

I am also very proud of the International Chefs Day Committee who volunteered their time this year to get the word out and answer any questions you had about the 2019 campaign. Everyone played a big role in making this a great year.

Thank you to my Team!!!

Adelina Sisti-DeBlasis, Canada

Joanna Ochniak, Poland

Mathew Shropshall, England

Ann Brown, Scotland

Kim-Håvard Larsen, Norway

Venessa Barnes, Australia

David Keir, South Africa

Ines Maria D’Amico, Ecuador

Tony Chang, Taiwan

And now what you have all been waiting for… Just look at our final counts for 2019!

Children Reached: 72,957       Chef Participation: 1,849

Congratulations! This is a great stride and everyone should be proud of what you have accomplished, and that is, sharing with children healthy eating habits and of course, our profession.  If you missed sharing with children this October, perhaps you can participate in 2020 by joining more chefs around the world for next year’s International Chefs Day campaign.

I leave you with this final thought, by Chef Dr. Bill Gallagher:

“Progress is incremental so concentrate on what you can do today that you couldn’t do yesterday.”

Rakhine Cuisine for Smiles Donate in Myanmar

Paris, France · 9 December 2019 ·  Rakhine Cuisine for Smiles Donate in Myanmar

Rakhine Cuisine for Smiles

Sandoway Hotels Group CSR & Rakhine Chefs SR 9.12.2019

Daw Ohnmar, owner of some of the best and top culinary standard hotels at Rakhine’s Ngapali Beach Front, The Best in Myanmar (Sandoway Resport, Art of Sands, Residence Ngapali Beach) offered WorldChefs Without Borders, Myanmar’s support with free meals to all patients, Drs, OPT, and ward nurses from the charity free of charge, and medical operations by German & Myanmar Interplast specialist Drs (cleft lips, pallets, mobilizing old burn scars & soft tumors).

CSR Daw Ohmar and her Myanmar head Chef Aung Chit Oo provided, with the help of all their Hotel staff, the healthiest three course Rakhine Cuisine menu, composed of chicken curry, veggie-potato, rice, and soup. There was enough for over 100 patients and family members at Thandwe District Hospital and because it was soon to be Christmas and the third Advent, delicious cakes and cookies were given to everyone.

Rakhine – Myanmar Chefs Association members joined the happy donation as Chefs Social Responsibilities for Rakhine people at the Thandwe hospital. Over 50 Rakhine Chefs next to the all Sandoway Hotel groups chefs and staff helped to portion and deliver the food in paper cups – ZERO Plastic due to Sandoway’s & Rakhine Chefs daily policy. Thank you Chef Mya Win and members.

All patients were happy of the very rich Rakhine Cuisine donation, many patients do not usually have a full meal a day and came from as far as North Rakhines: Rathetaung, Ponnakyune, Kyaukphyu, Ann Cities, traveling through war zones, in order to not miss the once in a life time chance of “normal eating.” “I used my hands, fingers and arms for the first time again after 20 years,” trapped with burn scars I got as baby, and the Myanmar medical system still overlooks such people and until the past weeks no one followed up to help to cure me and get back to a normal life.

Here in an outstanding effort, the Union of Myanmar’s Health Minister & Ministry reached out to all the past year’s burn cases in the villages in Rakhine as well Magway State with Magway, reaching over 90 old burn patients for Dr Peter Sieg,– in Rakhine this time over 20 burn cases for the Dr Heinz Schoeneich – both German Interplast & Myanmar specialist Drs teams. A great effort and success which need to be followed up and become a priority standard procedure and task. :” .. a disabled by burns COST Money livelong,- and operated and remobilized patient MAKES Money livelong …. ” – That should be motivation enough to put more energy in “Re Mobilization of all old Burn Scare patients as well Myanmar’s many, so,  daily War Victims… “

Thank you to Daw Ohnmar and all her Sandoway, Residence, Art of Sand Hotels highly motivating CSR & Rakhine Cuisine donation and ease the lives of most patients and boost happiness and UNITY between Myanmar & German medical teams at Thandwe Hospital. Thanks to all Rakhine – MCA members for the great efforts again and again as strong Chefs Team with a great sense of CSR!

Chefs Social Responsible, yours
