Thomas Gugler is an internationally celebrated chef whose career spans decades and continents. Born in Germany, his passion for cooking began at a very young age, leading him to become one of the most decorated chefs in the world, with over 1,500 accolades and 750 diplomas. His career saw him cooking for heads of state, celebrities such as Michael Jackson and Madonna, and contributing extensively to global culinary competitions.

Gugler’s expertise and leadership were recognized early on when he became the national coach of the German culinary team, guiding them to international success, including winning cooking Olympics. His commitment to the culinary arts is evident through his global involvement, co-founding the Saudi Arabian Chef Association, and leading 78 chef associations worldwide.

In 2016, Gugler was elected as the President of Worldchefs. His tenure saw him navigating challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, during which he worked to support chefs globally through virtual training and support initiatives. Under his leadership, Worldchefs expanded its membership, welcoming chefs from around the globe, including 15 new countries. His ability to foster global connections, support industry partnerships, and emphasize the importance of integrity and collaboration was pivotal in uniting chefs from all walks of life, irrespective of race, gender, or belief.

As his eight-year presidency comes to a close in 2024, Gugler leaves a lasting legacy through initiatives such as the Worldchefs Academy, offering education in multiple languages, and the push for sustainability in competitions. His unwavering dedication to the industry ensured that Worldchefs weathered the most difficult times without losing staff, setting a precedent for future leaders. Gugler’s vision has always been to unite chefs globally, a mission he accomplished by fostering cooperation, innovation, and a deep respect for the culinary craft. His career serves as an inspiration to young chefs worldwide, reminding them to continuously strive for excellence and share their talents for the betterment of the community.
