From April 15 to 17, 2026, Moscow will host the open All- Russian culinary championship Chef a la Russe.
This is already the tenth anniversary championship, which has been held annually in Russia since 2014. It is the largest and only professional culinary tournament in the country that is conducted in accordance with Worldchefs standards and involves judges of international level. Chef a la Russe is a competition where, once a year, the best chefs and pastry chefs of the Russian Federation are selected.
This year, the championship will take place at a new venue — the modern exhibition complex Timiryazev Center, as part of the major industry exhibition HoReCa Expo.
Traditionally, the championship is organized by Metro Cash & Carry and the National Culinary Association of Russia, with the support of Worldchefs.
Two categories of chefs take part in the competition — professionals and juniors. The professional competitions will be held in two stages:
- A qualifying round in the National Lunch category, during which the teams must prepare a cold starter, a hot main course, and a dessert in the traditions of Russian or regional cuisine.
- The final, which will be reached by 10 teams that score the highest number of points in the qualifying round, in the Black Box category. The contestants will have to prepare a hot main course and a dessert using a set of products that will only be revealed to them on the competition floor.
A record number of teams will take part in this year’s professional championship — 45 teams in total from more than 40 regions of Russia (135 chefs and pastry chefs). The winners of the championship will traditionally receive a substantial cash prize and the main award of the competition — training at a prestigious culinary school abroad.
The junior competitions will be held this year for the first time under the patronage of the Mayor of Moscow. Thanks to this, the tournament for young chefs has received its own name — JUNIORS OF MOSCOW. Eleven teams from leading Moscow colleges (44 participants) that train specialists for the foodservice industry will take part in the competition.
Particular attention should be paid to the championship jury, which this year includes international and regional judges from Russia, Serbia, Azerbaijan, France, and Belarus. In addition, each of the ten competition boxes will have technical judges — marshals, who will evaluate the teams’ work according to dozens of criteria during the preparation of the contest dishes. In total, there will be 26 judges.
This 10th anniversary Chef a la Russe championship will be the largest competition in the entire history of its existence. The geographical coverage of the participating regions, their high professional level, and the unprecedented composition of the international jury will not only make it possible to identify the best Russian chefs, but will also set a new benchmark for professional standards in the Russian Federation.
