Background and context
Launched in 2025 by the World Food Forum (WFF) Global Youth Action Initiative, in collaboration with Worldchefs, the Young Chefs Programme (YCP) recognizes chefs as actors of change and equips young chefs, especially young women (aged 18–35), with skills, knowledge and networks to take a leading role in transforming agrifood systems through culinary practices. From advancing better nutrition to promoting food security and revitalizing biodiversity, the programme aims to empower young chefs to champion underutilized crops and seeds, ingredients and dishes.
Young chefs are no longer just culinary professionals, but they are food heritage custodians, advocates and innovators within food systems. This event positions them at the center of global dialogue by connecting food heritage safeguard and revitalization, sustainable food systems and food supply chains and future culinary education of chefs to elevate them as credible voices and leaders influencing how we produce, consume and value food globally.
