About Andy Cuthbert
Chef Andy Cuthbert, originally from Melbourne, Australia, began his culinary journey like many chefs—washing dishes and chopping vegetables. After falling out of high school, he found work with his cousin in a Melbourne banquet hall, which sparked his passion for the kitchen. He quickly advanced through an apprenticeship with TAFE and Box Hill College, working in small restaurants before stepping into the hotel industry, first at Rockmans Regency and later at the prestigious Melbourne Hilton on the Park. Under the mentorship of celebrated chefs like Peter Wright, Cuthbert honed his skills and deepened his love for the culinary arts.
Chef Cuthbert’s career flourished as he took on leadership roles at luxury hotels across the globe, including managing the food and beverage operations at the Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, a world-renowned business hotel. His work there solidified his reputation for excellence, overseeing 19 restaurants and helping shape Dubai’s rise as a global culinary hub.
A key figure in the Emirates Culinary Guild since 1992, Chef Cuthbert has also made a significant impact within Worldchefs, becoming deeply involved with the organization’s competitions, Young Chef development programs, and governance. His leadership, mentorship, and dedication to advancing the culinary profession have left an indelible mark, influencing chefs across continents. Today, Chef Andy Cuthbert continues to inspire the next generation, always reflecting on his roots as a humble cook and champion of the culinary arts.
