Unlock the Power of Digital Badging with Sam Egerton, Sales Leader at the City & Guilds

Welcome to World on a Plate, where the latest culinary trends and industry insights are brought to the table.

On Episode 87: Unlock the Power of Digital Badging, Ragnar speaks with Sam Egerton, City & Guilds Sales Lead for Recognition Services, about the growing importance and value of digital credentials in today’s workforce and education landscape.

Hospitality is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing industries. Today it ranks as the largest employer in the world, representing 1 in every 10 jobs. Yet, employment in the industry can be a challenge for businesses and workers alike. Co-designed with leading employers, Worldchefs Global Hospitality Certification matches experience gained on the job against a global benchmark for hospitality professionals, taking real-life workplace skills and making them visible, measurable, and global.

Learn how digital credentials offer a powerful way to recognize and showcase skills, help stay competitive in the job market, and build a strong professional profile. Ragnar and Sam explore the practical steps to create, issue, and share digital credentials, empowering employers, schools, and chefs to utilize this innovative approach to unlock a powerful tool for business and skills.

Tune in and HEAR:
  1. How digital credentials showcase skills and behaviors: Digital credentials, or digital badges, are virtual certificates that showcase the skills and behaviors individuals have learned, rather than just focusing on formal qualifications. Unlike traditional paper certificates, digital credentials are easily shareable across various social media platforms, making it a powerful marketing tool for chefs to highlight their achievements to thousands of connections and potential employers.
  2. Mobility and sustainability benefits: With digital credentials, individuals can carry their achievements and skills globally. It doesn’t matter where they acquired the credentials; they remain valuable and recognized across different countries. Moreover, these digital credentials contribute to environmental sustainability by eliminating the need for paper certificates, thus reducing the environmental impact.
  3. Empowering career growth: Digital credentials provide a passport to learning and a clear pathway for career progression. Chefs can earn various badges for attending webinars, training sessions, or acquiring specific competencies. These badges become a part of their digital CV, showcasing their dedication to continuous learning and highlighting their expertise to current and future employers.
