Paris, France · 7 January 2020 · Feed the Planet 2019 Achievements
Greetings Chefs!
Over the course of 2019, the Feed the Planet Committee and its partner organizations, Electrolux and AIESEC, have been hard at work addressing issues of global sustainability. I am very proud of the work that we have collectively achieved. There are so many stories of Worldchefs members who have stepped up and consciously made a decision to get involved and make a difference. These efforts are so encouraging!
So by the numbers, this represents some of the achievements of 2019:
- We taught over 30,249 children about sustainable eating through the Food Heroes Challenge.
- We now have 7 Like A Chef teaching centers open in 6 countries where we teach free 2-month culinary modules to help the world’s disenfranchised find employment in the foodservice sector.
- Over 800 culinary students completed Worldchefs Sustainability Education for Culinary Professionals curriculum.
- As members of Worldchefs, you can share in celebrating these results. It is only through the sum of our individual activities that we can make a difference. And remember, every effort, no matter how small or big, to make our world and our profession more sustainable is a step in the right direction.
As 2020 begins to unfold before us, please reach out to the Feed the Planet committee if you want to get more involved. We welcome all efforts!!
Thank you,
Chef Christopher Koetke
Chairman, Worldchefs Feed the Planet Committee
