Competition Seminar instructors share techniques from both the perspective of Worldchefs Certified Judges and award-winning competitors. Participants gain an understanding of not only judging criteria but also best practices in the competition kitchen and tactics that consistently reach the highest place at the podium.
Current judges: All Worldchefs Certified Judges are required to attend a Competition Seminar every five years.
Future judges: Attending a Competition Seminar is a mandatory part of the process to become a Worldchefs Certified Judge. Participants are awarded a certificate of participation that can be submitted as one of the required credentials in an application. Attending a Competition Seminar is one of the required credentials in a Certified Judge application. Keep in mind, all Certified Judges are required to attend a Competition Seminar every five years. These intensive workshops provide key information about current trends, competition rules and judging criteria, to help chefs keep up-to-date and at their best!
Attending applicable Competition Seminars is one part of the process to become a judge, and does not automatically qualify you as a Certified Judge. Applicants must fulfil additional criteria and provide evidence of support in a formal application process. Meet Your Seminar Instructor:

This seminar is taught by: Ann Brown
Ann Brown is a Pastry Chef Lecturer at New College Manarkshire, Motherwell Campus.
Ann’s name has become synonymous with the art of pastry and food sculpture. As Food Artist and pastry chef with the Scottish Culinary Team, Ann has travelled extensively competing in international culinary events around the world. Individually, Ann has created British history with her artistic creations and multiple gold medal awards.
In Singapore Ann was the winner of ‘Most Outstanding Pastry Chef Award.’ Ann is also a past winner of the prestigious ‘Craft Guild of Chefs Award’ in London. Her work was exhibited in ‘The Smith Art Gallery’ London and in the same year her name was entered in the ‘Who’s Who’ world publication. Her work has been documented in television, radio, magazine and newspaper coverage throughout her career.
Ann is an approved Worldchefs International Judge and has been adjudicating at culinary events since the year 1999, including the Scothot: Scotland, Hotelympia : London, Heart of England: Birmingham, Kulinarja International Salon: Malta, Emirates Salon Culinaire: Dubai, Global Pastry Chef World Finals: Abu Dhabi, The Culinary World Cup: Luxembourg, IKA Culinary Olympics: Germany, FHC International Culinary Championship 2024: China, Shanghai and more.
Ann is a member of Worldchefs’ Culinary Competition Committee and is a member of the Scottish Chefs Association.
