  • The independent, non-profit organization founded and funded by Electrolux supports initiatives to inspire more sustainable food choices among kids, adults and professionals.
  • Joining as a Worldchefs Partner in 2016, with their support Feed the Planet has grown into a dynamic collaborative effort for inspiring social change and supporting people in need in communities around the world.

Paris, 23 of September 2021 – Worldchefs is pleased to announce a renewed partnership with Electrolux Food Foundation who has been a remarkable supporter of Worldchefs, with Feed the Planet initiatives counting on their support.

Feed the Planet was founded by Worldchefs in 2012 as a way to empower and mobilize our international chef network committed to building a more equitable and sustainable food system. To accomplish this mission, Worldchefs joined forces with Electrolux Food Foundation and AIESEC, the world’s largest youth-led organization, in 2016. Since that time, Feed the Planet has grown into a dynamic collaborative effort for inspiring social change and supporting people in need in communities around the world.

“I’m so proud of the work done so far. We started out from zero and with many employees now engaged we’re scaling up fantastic projects such as Food Heroes and Like a Chef across the world,” says Malin Ekefalk, Electrolux Director Social Responsibility & Community Investment. “Our partners give us an edge and help us to grow. Worldchefs is uniquely positioned to set the agenda and convey important messages about the need for healthy food and sustainable cooking.”

With a focus on four key initiatives, Worldchefs’ Feed the Planet partnership with Electrolux Food Foundation and AIESEC has created local and global impact through diverse projects that cross the continents.

The Like A Chef employment training program provides underprivileged people with culinary workplace skills to help them build a new career path. An eight-week course, developed by Worldchefs in partnership with Electrolux Food Foundation, is delivered by partners and teaches with a zero-food waste approach. With 8 active training centers around the world and more on the way, Like a Chef is changing lives – for real.

The Sustainability Education for Culinary Professionals curriculum, now available both online and in schools, is an innovative free course designed to teach chefs how to think and act sustainably. Graduates earn a Worldchefs digital badge and certificate to show potential employers their commitment to professional growth and a more efficient kitchen. The course is available in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic. The program has reached over 1,600 students and has provided special leadership training to 84 Sustainability Education Trainers in over 80 countries.

Food Heroes is an educational program for kids. Developed as part of UNICEF’s World’s Largest Lesson, the interactive workshop teaches young people about the important relationship between healthy food for both our bodies and our environment. The workshop materials are available in 11 languages. Since 2018, more than 40,000 kids have been reached by Electrolux Food Foundation, AIESEC, and Worldchefs across over 30 countries.

The Food Waste Challenge is designed to decrease food waste while improving profit margins in both back of house and front of house operations. The Food Waste Challenge toolkit and webinar series provides hands-on waste cutting practices that make day-to-day waste tracking easy, encouraging restaurants to commit to reducing food waste.

Feed the Planet also produces a webcast series, Sustainability Around the World, with each new episode exploring the journey toward a more conscious kitchen.

Continuing the mission to empower better cooking and eating habits through awareness and advocacy, the Electrolux Food Foundation has recently launched Replate – a new online space to inspire people to rethink their food choices and eat better for health and planet. The online space features stats, stories, hacks and recipes as well as hands-on-tips that answer the question: ‘So, what can I do?’ – to eat more sustainably.

“We are extremely proud to continue our longstanding partnership with Electrolux Food Foundation,” says Ragnar Fridricksson, Worldchefs Managing Director. “We are an outstanding team, joined by a genuine vision for a better future. We look forward to continuing our efforts to inspire our global network to take action, and to help more people put better food on the table.”
